  Children's Sports....The New Epidemic of Violence!

  i was given the december 8, 2002 awake from a relative, and that is the title to an article inside.

  it goes on to relate how violent some parents and coaches have become and gives some examples of parents who have been violent in regards to their children's sports activities.

  while i do realize that there probably are instances of violent parents.....i'm sure these instances are relatively few and sporadic.

  Yep! I know the story. It's the story of my life. For me, I had missed out in participating in sports. Whenever I had the chance to play, (especially baseball), I would sneak and practice playing with the non-JW neighbor's kids. Their coach was nice enough to let me join in on their practices even though I wasn't on the team. However, I couldn't play with them during the games. And besides, we had to go to the meeting or Book Study .

  Who knows? I could be playing 1st base for the Boston Red Sox right now!

  Like the others, blondie, I also would like to thank you for your reviews. They are quite fascinating. Like youself, I too am still attending some meetings. However, I'm also trying to do the "submerge". But just to let you know, I won't be able to "ENJOY" () the Watchtower study this Sunday. Actually, I have a public talk scheduled in my Hall and my conscience will not let me go through with it. I will cancel and miss the meeting all together ~

  Oh yeah! And besides that, the first definition of "smart" according to Webster is this:

  "To cause a sharp stinging pain, to slap". "To feel mental stress of irritation". "A stinging sensation".

  So, to answer the question : "Do you think that you're smart?"

  The word "smart" is overused and abused! Very vague and cannot be accurately measured. "He's smart because......" or "That's a smart thing to do....."

  I'm sure all of us will agree on this fact. Wisdom is deeper than "smarts". Whenever we learn something from another individual that we personally deem as valuable, there is profound respect for that person. Some may even consider the other person smarter then he/she. In my opinion, we shouldn't feel that way.

  We are all teachers. We teach each other!

  i would like to say that i have reached the point of "master member".

  i know it doesnt mean much to some but to me.. it makes me happy and i hope that some of my posts have made other people smile and feel good as their's have to me.. thanks for all your help everyone.. and simon, thanks to you also.. kelps who is now a master member!!.

  ( myself included ) but yet for me i love this place.

  i love the different opionions, they make me think, i love the freedom of expression, the friendships, and the expriences that make this a special healing place.

  Before and After pics

  remember those pics that were often to be found in the wt/a mags.

  i'm thinking of the ones where you'd get a group of teenagers 'hanging out' in a back street or some corner.the females would often have seriously backcombed and toussled hair and a scowl on their face and the males were often depicted as yobbos, leering and jeering and looking as menacing as was possible for jws playing make believe!.

  then...miracle of miracles, there would be the 'after' shot where the amazing transformation had taken place and suddenly these youths would have radiant kingdom smiles, ankle length skirts and hair slides.

  Even though I look at those "before" pictures of youths in their "worldly" environment along with the attire, I can't help but LOL that they still look like JW's. I know that the Society has tried hard to make them or others who where taunting them appear like undesirable "bad association" (1Cor 14:33), it was too fake. The WT Society used youths in "good standing" (bethelites, pioneers, MS...etc.) and you can't get beyond the "props". However, I do have a question. Maybe someone knows.

  Do they use "real cigarettes" as some of the "props"? When looking at especially older issues of the magazines (10+ years ago), those "cigs" look like the real thing (Some were even lit up and smoke was ascending heavenward ). Did the WT support the idea of using real cigarettes in their photo shoots years ago? Probably not, huh?

  One thing I noticed for sure though. The "joints" in their drug scenes weren't rolled up as nicely as how I used to do them .

  being a jehovah witness, did you feel obliged to have a 4 door car?

  once i bought a 2 door car, and everyone was looking at me as if i commited a crime.

  Blondie! Nice "Bird" ya' got there. Mine is similar, but white in color. I left it back in the USA when I moved here to Japan. My brother is keeping it in storage for me. (I guess I can always use it when I visit the relatives or sell it if I run out of money).

  Damn! I sold my 1983 XLH 1000 Harley Davidson Sportster a few years back when I was a super zealous JW. It didn't do well among the congregation and I basically sold it out of guilt (Or was it peer pressure?). How stupid I was!!. Anyways, I sold it to a guy who shipped it off to Japan. Well......guess where I am now?
